Tile Roof Cleaning in Atherton

A Mediterranean-style home with years of moss and algae growth across a large clay tile roof. The colour had gone from terracotta to a dull mottled brown-green, heaviest in the valleys and on the shaded northern planes — the sections that stay damp longest under Atherton's heavy oak canopy.
How we approached it
Tile is durable but individual tiles crack under direct pressure or a badly placed step, so this was entirely low pressure. We walked the roof deliberately, staying on the structural high points of the tile profile. Debris was cleared from the valleys and around the chimney and vents first, since that is what holds the moisture feeding the growth, then a roof-safe solution was applied at low pressure, given dwell time, and gently rinsed.
The result
The original terracotta came back across the full roof, including the shaded sections that had been darkest, with no cracked or displaced tiles. With this much canopy overhead the growth will slowly return, so this roof is a good candidate for a check every two to three years.
